1. Information We Collect

a. Information you provide to us

• Account information: name, email address, phone number, and password
• Profile and business information: business name, address, trade/specialty, years of experience, and portfolio details for vendors, artisans, contractors, developers, and professionals
• Project information: project name, address/location, building details, material and labor requirements, and budgets you enter
• Payment information: billing details processed through our payment provider (see Section 3) — we do not store your full card or mobile money credentials ourselves
• Communications: messages you send through in-app chat, support requests, and enquiries submitted through contact forms

b. Photos, videos, and files

Our Services let you upload photos, videos, and documents — for example, site progress photos, inspection/verification photos, portfolio media, and profile or business images. To do this, the app requests access to your device's camera and photo library. We only access these when you actively choose to take or select a photo/video to upload; we do not access your camera or photo library in the background.

c. Location information

We collect the project, business, and delivery addresses you type into the app (e.g. region, city, or site address). We do not access your device's precise GPS location.

d. Information collected automatically

When you use our Services, we automatically collect certain technical information, such as device and browser type, IP address, pages viewed, and usage patterns, including through cookies and similar technologies. See our Cookie Policy for details.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Services, including matching project owners with vendors, artisans, contractors, and professionals
• Process payments, escrow, and payouts
• Enable in-app messaging and notify you about assignments, bids, deliveries, and account activity
• Verify identity and prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations
• Provide customer support and respond to your requests
• Analyze usage to maintain, secure, and improve the Services
• Send service updates and, where permitted, promotional communications (you can opt out at any time)
• Comply with legal obligations

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:

• Other users, as needed to provide the Services — e.g. a project owner and the vendors/artisans/professionals they engage can see relevant profile, project, and contact details needed to complete the work
• Service providers who process data on our behalf, including: Paystack for payment processing; Cloudflare for secure file/photo storage; and SMS and email providers to deliver notifications
• Legal and safety purposes — to comply with applicable law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of CostmyBuild, our users, or the public
• Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy
• With your consent — for any other purpose you approve

4. Data Security

We use technical and organizational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and hashed passwords — to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, comply with our legal obligations (including tax and financial record-keeping for payments processed through the platform), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When no longer needed, we delete or anonymize your information.

6. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you have the right to:

• Access and update your personal information through your account settings
• Request a copy of your data in a portable format
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and data (see Section 7)
• Opt out of marketing communications at any time

7. Account and Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your CostmyBuild account and associated personal data at any time using our Account Deletion form, or by emailing privacy@CostmyBuild.com from your registered email address, with the subject line "Account Deletion Request." We will verify your request and delete your account and personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records (for example, transaction and payment records) to comply with legal, tax, or accounting obligations, or to resolve disputes.

8. Children's Privacy

Our Services are intended for business and professional use by users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. International Users

CostmyBuild is based in Ghana. If you use our Services from outside Ghana, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in Ghana and other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, through the Services or by email.
